Most of our products are now vegan and we always strive to develop our new launches without animal ingredients. Here’s our list of common animal derived ingredients and how to spot them.
CARMINE
Many products which are red or pink in colour include the ingredient Carmine. Carmine is extracted from the Cochineal scale insect. Eek! Look out for CI 75470, E120, carminic acid, cochineal and crimson lake in your product ingredient lists.
Our Glitter Flip, Liquid Velvet and Pretty Stix lipstick shades are all vegan without compromising on vivid, bold red pigment.
BEESWAX
Also written as Cera Alba, beeswax is a wax secreted from honey bees. Found in anything from nail care to mascara, beeswax is used to emulsify other ingredients in products.
Our magical Wonderwand Mascara uses a host of alternative waxes in its formula. No need to take from the bumblebees to achieve x19 more volume on those lashes!
LANOLIN
Derived from sheep’s wool, lanolin is an emollient used to moisturise and soften the skin. It’s typically found in lip products but there are plenty of alternatives available now. Our Pretty Stix lipsticks are formulated with creamy murumuru butter for ultra-hydrated and conditioned lips.
